Did you know that you have an amazing gift of kindness sitting in your pantry? Friday, September 4th, is National Food Bank Day, and our REALTORS® encourage you to give back to our community by donating to a local food bank. National Food Bank Day is a relatively new United States holiday, but food banks and pantries have operated in our country for decades.
You can celebrate National Food Bank Day in a number of ways. First and foremost, you can donate nonperishable foods to your local food bank. It's best to ask the food bank which items they are in need of first. Sometimes too many cans are donated and they actually have a shortage of fresh food items like fruits and vegetables. You could also make a generous monetary donation to help these food pantries keep their operations running as efficiently as possible. If you're unable to donate physical items, you can donate your time and help the food bank sort donations, assist members of the community, and complete administrative tasks.

Did you know that every human being on the planet has what it takes to be a hero? No matter how strong or fast you are, you can save the lives of countless strangers with the noble act of donating blood. This process is virtually painless and is so fast that you could complete it during your lunch break. If you'd like to donate blood, June offers the perfect opportunity to bleed for a worthy cause. This year's World Blood Donor Day falls on June 14th, and our REALTORS® invite you to learn more about this fantastic event.
In celebration and recognition of these everyday heroes, the World Health Organization created World Blood Donor Day in 2004. What started as an attempt to raise awareness for the growing demand for clean, safe blood has blossomed into an annual event that acknowledges the many selfless individuals who donate blood while also spreading education about the many crucial benefits of each blood donation provides.

As you plan your holiday gift-giving, why not brighten the season for those less fortunate? Take part in the National Day of Giving on Tuesday, December 3 with a donation to one of these deserving charities around Mansfield suggested by our REALTORS®.
